The Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania has mandated that ALL Municipalities in the Commonwealth
must adopt a Statewide Building Code. The STATE LAW becomes effective on April 9,
2003.
The Commonwealth is
mandating/initiating regulations that will provide safe, consistent
construction standards in Pennsylvania. It is important to note that
prior to this State Legislation Pennsylvania was one of three states in
the nation without uniform construction standards. Permits will be
required for all the following: building, plumbing, electrical, heating
and air conditioning.
Although the
new State law is called the Uniform Construction Code with exception of
administrative changes it is basically the 2003 International
Residential Code. Please be advised that there are certain exemptions
when in doubt, please contact Eric Hawkins at 215-672-9175.
